Quick post: Tim's out of McGrath and on to Tokatna, and apparently left Eleanor behind. He called and left a message while I was dropping Tom and Emily at the airport and his voice was pretty scratchy - must be all the cigareets and whuskey on the trail - but left no details
regarding Eleanor. Kind of suprising, as she's the go-to dog along with her brother, Mr. Kite (yes, it was a Beatles themed litter). None the less, he said everyone's upbeat and in good spirits.
And what a suprise the Norwegian scratched! I read at the Millenium Hotel today that he was injured on the way to Anchorage for evaluation; that's a shame, really, and I hope it's nothing too serious.

  1. Mary, I love reading this and love your writing style. It's hilarious. I met your husband years ago (not that he would remember me - I barely remember him) when he vetted the field trial at Archie & Carol Hendriks house. I are a field trialer. :) Keep writing this good stuff and the best to you both. Go team go. Cordially, Nancy

  2. We also enjoy reading about your Iditarod adventures - thank you! We met Tim last summer when he saved our Malamute Gracie's life at the Marquette Dog show ... What an adventure to run in the Iditarod!

  3. Mary, I am totally loving reading your blog. Tim is our Vet and I (along with my 2 dogs) absolutely love him. I was so excited when I read that he was running the Iditarod, that I actually got chills. Kudos to both of you and GO TEAM GO!!!

  4. Mary, your blog is the highlight of my day. I lived in Marquette for a short while when I was younger. I am now a teacher in Omaha, Nebraska and my 6th graders complete an Iditarod unit every year. Each student tracks a musher (they choose veterans, but I chose Dr. Tim) throughout the race, among other activities. Best of luck to your team of dogs and Dr. Tim!! What an adventure!
    Fondly,

  5. Thanks for taking the time to share what's going on with Dr. Tim. Iditarod Insider has a couple short videos of him before the race and he appears confident that he is where he is suppose to be...experiencing the Alaskan wilderness with some of his best friends. Keep up the great writing and may you all be safe and well.

  6. Hi Mary,
My husband and I have brought out dogs into meet with Tim when we visit my in-laws Ken and Joann Liefer in Marquette. We are from Milford Michigan. They have known Tim for years and just wanted to let you know that the Liefers are pulling for him!

  7. Hi Mary,
I met you in Anchorage, I was with Colleen's Aunt Mary and have to tell you to make sure you pass on to Tim thank you. He has inspired myself and my daughter, he gave her his autograph just before the start in Willow. We have been glued to the standings list and any information we can get on Tim's status and everyone else as well. We have so many great pictures and Mary even has a video of the restart that I am sure will be of great interest to Tim and you as well. If he his, I am going to leave my contact information so we can get it to you. Cheryl Schlosser 218-251-4900 or email cheryl.schlosser@kpss-hair.us

    Thanks again Mary!
